Dr. Chris Smith is Director of Client Solutions at Truist Leadership Institute. Through the development of research-based programs, his team creates transformational career experiences for internal and external clients. Dr. Smith is a member of the institute’s senior leadership team.
Dr. Smith spent seven years as a Senior Executive Consultant on the Truist Leadership Institute Consulting Team where he led development and redesign on several flagship programs. In addition, he served as a mentor to new executive consultants, co-authored publications with the research team, and collaborated in external client development. Dr. Smith brings these deep client-facing experiences to his client solutions work at Truist Leadership Institute.
Previously, Dr. Smith led nationwide recruiting and development and delivery of customized training programs at a national construction firm. Dr. Smith served at Elon University as the Assistant Dean for Professional Development and Director of Employer Relations. During this time, he oversaw career and professional development services and strategic employer and alumni partnerships. Prior, Dr. Smith was responsible for credential accreditation, contract development, and staff leadership as the Director of Professional Development for the National Board for Certified Counselors. This range of experience has provided Dr. Smith with the expertise to support individual development journeys while driving broader organizational outcomes.
As a thought leader, Dr. Smith has authored numerous publications, including two peer-reviewed journal articles. He has spoken at multiple professional conferences and served on numerous professional and community boards.
