Dr. Tawanda Carpenter is Vice President, Executive Consultant at Truist Leadership Institute. Through the delivery of Truist Leadership Institute programs, she facilitates transformational career experiences for internal and external clients. She has held this position since March 2023.
Previously, Dr. Carpenter served as a Bullying Prevention Coordinator for Guilford County Schools from August 2016 until March 2023. In this role, she facilitated bullying prevention training for school counselors, parents, students, and community partners. She also led Restorative Practice Training, Title IX investigations, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion training, and Social and Emotional Learning training for all Guilford County School staff and administrators. Prior, as an Adult Education Instructor, she worked closely with Guilford County jails to assist inmates in receiving their High School Diploma or General Education Development certificate. In her role as Adult Education/General Education Development Assistant Program Coordinator for Guilford Technical Community College, she facilitated leadership to adjunct instructors and NC community college partners. She has over 20 years of experience as a mental health counselor working closely with local Department of Social Services and non-profit agencies with a focus on family and individual counseling.
Dr. Carpenter was named NC American Massage Therapy Association (NC AMTA) volunteer of the year and is currently serving on the board in this capacity. She is an active member of the Winston Lake Family YMCA and volunteers with One Step Further, Inc. in Greensboro, NC.
