Will: At Truist Leadership Institute, we concern ourselves very deeply with leadership transitions within companies. Our clients are really important to us, and this is a major part of their business.
Jeremy: If you look at the demographics that are going on in society right now, and particularly in in business, there are a lot of baby boomers who are starting to age out of the workforce.
Cheryl: In many cases, when you transition your business. You have a successor in mind. And the question will be, have you prepared that person to take on these responsibilities?
Donté: When you look at business transitions from generation to generation as you go. The likelihood of success degrades more and more. A lot of the time, it's because the leaders or the successors in those moments don't have some of the softer skills that they need to be successful leading the organization at that level.
Jeremy: So we created TORCH and we said, let's figure out what does that new leader need? We've worked with them to say, hey, let's build this cohort where you're going to come experience this process together, where we take you through our Mastering Leadership Dynamics™ program.
Richard: But we then combine that from a cohort perspective into a FORUM group. And that FORUM group is basically a peer advisory group for that next generation successor. There are other cohort members that have gone through the TORCH program with them. We're going to give them just invaluable guidance over the next five, ten, 15 years and help them on that journey.
Jeremy: We really believe that this structure that we've created is going to enable these individuals who participate to have such a special camaraderie, connection, and build their capacity for leadership in a way that's going to help them take it to the next level.
Shawn: I came in thinking like, oh, one, I've got leadership, right? Like I can figure this out. This is like, yeah, I definitely have some work to do. And I feel positive saying that in a positive way.
Hannah: I did not expect to learn a lot about, like, how I react, or how I behave, and then how I lead, and then like how I want to lead.
Tim: I came for the people I came to, to be with like-minded leaders and individuals that could inspire me. And that is exactly what I got.
John: And I'm taken away a new growth plan for me, which will help show up in all facets of my life. It's been really powerful to learn from each other and learn about ourselves and the way this has gone about doing that it almost rivals getting a full degree.
Rett: It's given me a lot of clarity in not only what I want, but how to go about it?
Ryan: I think hearing from others in this peer group, I’m like, hey, you know, I kind of think about things differently, like, this is how I would feel if I worked with you or, you know, was a friend of yours. And we were talking about a big issue, like, you know, just think about that. You know, and it was it was presented in a constructed way.
Shawn: It was very lonely, especially as a leader. Now I've accumulated five people that I can continue to develop a relationship with. You can’t put price tag on that.
John: What this did for us is made us realize that if we want to do those things to our organization and help others and lift others up, the best place to start is with yourself.
